Past exhibition....September 2007
An exciting group show took place in Coleraine at the end of September at The
Riverside Gallery in Coleraine. The show, commenced on Thursday 27th September
and ran until Saturday 13th October, coincidings with the launch of the
gallery’s new web site.
It was a highlight in the North West’s art calendar, an eclectic mix
of work was on show, suiting all tastes and budgets. The gallery had acquired works
from some of Ireland's top artists, including pieces from both emerging and established
artists.
The Irish art scene was particularly vibrant at the time and a range of very promising
stars were emerging. Among these were artists such as Jane Swanston, Jonny McEwen,
Lisa Ballard, Stephen Forbes, Michael Smyth and David Johnson, all
of whom have received acclaim at the Royal Ulster Academy in recent years. New works
by all of these artists were available at the show.
Alongside these new stars, works were available from some of the most
respected Irish Artists, many of whom are Royal Ulster Academicians. They included
works by Gary Devon, Brian Ballard, Jack Pakenham, Malcolm Kelly, James Miller and
Gerry Gleeson. Individual pieces were also available from Basil Blackshaw, Gerrard
Dillon and Markey Robinson. Additionally, affordable art from up and coming artists
was on show at the exhibition. CLICK to view
